Thinking about a real estate career in NL? It's more achievable than you might think — and you don't have to figure it out alone. Here's exactly how to get your licence, what it costs, and how Royal LePage Turner Realty sponsors new agents across our network.
In Newfoundland & Labrador, your salesperson licence has to be sponsored by a licensed brokerage — you can't activate it on your own. That's exactly where we come in: pass the course and we sponsor your licence, then connect you with the Royal LePage Turner team closest to you — Gander & Central Newfoundland, St. John's & the Avalon Peninsula, or Happy Valley-Goose Bay & Labrador — for hands-on training and mentorship.
Here's the whole journey, start to finish. We're with you from step three on.
Fundamentals of Real Estate, the salesperson pre-licensing course from the NL Association of REALTORS®. Self-paced and fully online — finish on your own schedule.
A 100-question exam (70% to pass), taken online or in person. Your first attempt is included in the course.
Your licence must be authorized by a licensed broker — so you join a brokerage before you can practise.
This is where we come inApply through Service NL (Financial Services Regulation Division) and pay your licensing fees. We help you through the paperwork.
Onboarding, RRI training, mentorship, and support from day one. You're officially in business — with a team behind you.

Once you're licensed, ongoing NLAR/board dues run about $150/month — mostly errors-&-omissions insurance, CREA/association membership, and MLS/lockbox & technology access (standard for any licensed profession). Every Royal LePage Turner office keeps agents on a transparent 70/30 split — no desk fees, no technology charges. Already licensed in another province? There's a shorter reciprocity course (about $350 + HST) — just ask us.
Think of it as the start-up cost of your own business — one we help you turn into income wherever in NL you call home.
Because the course is self-paced, a motivated person can be licensed and working in as little as a few months. Move at the pace that fits your life — you have up to a year to complete the course.
Getting your licence is step one. Building a career is the real goal — and that's where the right brokerage changes everything.
You can't activate your licence without a brokerage. Pass the course and we authorize your licence with Service NL — no scrambling to find a sponsor.
A Top 1% brokerage nationally since 2017 — Canada's largest real estate brand behind every agent, in every community we serve.
Whether you're closest to Gander, St. John's, or Happy Valley-Goose Bay, we connect you with the local Royal LePage Turner team for hands-on onboarding and mentorship.
